Honest answers to the most common questions about home inspection.

What does a pre-purchase inspection cover?

We examine the visible and accessible components of the building: structure and foundations, roof, exterior envelope, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, insulation and interior. You receive a detailed report with photos.

What does an inspection NOT cover?

A visual inspection is not a hidden-defect search or a specialized expertise. It does not cover, for example, air quality, pyrite, vermiculite or iron ochre. When a specialized assessment is useful, we tell you clearly.

What is a hidden defect (vice caché)?

A hidden defect is a serious flaw, not apparent at the time of purchase, that existed before the sale and that a prudent buyer could not have detected through a normal examination. A pre-purchase inspection reduces the risk, but it does not guarantee the absence of hidden defects.

Are you RBQ certified?

We carry out our inspections in line with RBQ standards, and we are an APCHQ member and CEI certified, as well as a Snell Group certified thermographer. For full transparency, this is not the home inspector certificate issued by the RBQ.

How long does an inspection take?

It depends on the size, age and type of property. A single-family home generally takes two to three hours. Larger or more complex buildings may take longer.

When will I receive my report?

The detailed report, with photos and recommendations sorted by priority, is delivered within 24 to 48 hours after the inspection.

How much does an inspection cost?

The price varies with the type, size and age of the property, as well as any add-on services. See our pricing page to understand the range, or request a free quote.

Do you offer service in English?

Yes. The inspection and the report are available in both French and English, to serve clients across the Outaouais and Ottawa.

Should I be present during the inspection?

It is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. Being there lets you ask questions on site and better understand the true condition of the property.
